night light [04 Jan 1970|05:14pm]

sommeree
hello guys. i want to make a Pavement-related christmas gift for a friend, and i need your assistance

the other night this friend of mine was showing me a booklet that came in one of the re-releases, and on the back there was a picture of a night light that said Pavement in the Brighten the Corners font. like so:

as if you didn't know. and there was something else on the night light, but i can't remember what it looked like. some sort of figure of a person, maybe? i am not a really avid fan, so maybe it's something familiar that you guys know of, or maybe one of you has this booklet and could scan the image for me? i'd really appreciate it, because i want to replicate the nightlight as closely as possible.

Your Pavement 10 track best of [06 Apr 2008|11:11pm]

xtrmntr16
I've been set the task of making a 10-track mix tape of Pavement for a Pavement-novice.

This is what I came up with:

1. Summer Babe (Winter version) [I've already put the 7" version on a mix for him]
2. Trigger Cut/Wounded Kite at :17
3. Here
4. Silence Kid
5. Cut Your Hair.
6. Gold Soundz
7. Range Life
8. Rattled By The Rush
9. Stereo
10. Shady Lane

What do you think?
Any amendments/additions/etc.

The Jicks in Seattle [20 Jan 2007|04:00pm]

smashingjoker
I saw the Jicks in Seattle last night. They played mostly new tunes, all of which were really impressive. Is there any info about a new album in the works? I can't wait to here this stuff studio-ified.

Oh, and Stephen Malkmus officially looks like a sex offender.

PS: I really like Janet Weiss as the new drummer. I think she tightens them up, whereas they used to be at times frustratingly loose in concert. The presence of a real backup singer really helps out the sound.

Hello everyone. I am new to the community. I'm a somewhat new fan of Pavement (it's been about a year now), and upon joining this community I have a simple question: Does anyone know the tabs for "Same Way of Saying" off the Crooked Rain reissue? I know it's like a super easy song, but I can't figure out the chords as I am just a beginner when it comes to the guitar. Any help would be appreciated! THanks!

I've been sort of eyeing this community for a while and now finally decided to join! Like all of you, I love Pavement. I wasn't there from 1993, but the first album I listened to was 'Brighten the Corners' and unlike most of you I didn't like it. I returned it back to the library. A few months down the track by some mysterious fate I picked it up again and thought it was the best thing that ever happened to my music taste.

My favourite album's Crooked Rain Crooked Rain, of Stephen Malkmus's stuff it's his self titled I like best and Preston School of Industry- This Sound Gas.

Anyway, I'm looking forward to reading some more from this community and hopefully contribute some as well. Last thing, I would really like some cool people who like Pavement on my friend's list. I need at least one person on my friend's list who dig Pavement as much as I do...and that is A LOT. (Or sadly, at least a person who knows them without knowing them through me.) 18+ recommended.

Two Pavement B-sides [04 May 2006|12:02am]

mcedub
Hey all-

Today I posted two of my very favorite Pavement b-sides on my mp3 blog, http://evanryt.blogspot.com. It wasn't at all easy to narrow down, but I think I choose fun tracks that show sides of the band you can't always see on their records. Enjoy, and let me know what you think.

So I hadn't checked out the Jicks site in a while and when I came across this, I laughed.

Seeing as to how much I love Radiohead but how much I hate finding my way through their web site sometimes:

we are currently in a heated contract dispute, concerning the REINVENTION of this website. Ive been informed its time for a CHANGE, and... GOOD changes are GOOD. So you might see a new thing or two on here. DOnt worry we wont go all radiohead on your ass. itll still be about words more then wormholes and secret clicksss
